As an officer of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Armenia, I am extremely concerned about the current situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and particularly that this is taking place during the Covid-19 outbreak.
I understand that the Azerbaijani military has been taking action near civilian populations in Tavush, north-eastern Armenia, and that there have been deeply worrying threats of escalation, including the Azerbaijani defence ministry saying it could strike the Metsamor nuclear power station in Armenia.
I have therefore written to the Foreign Secretary, Rt Hon. Dominic Raab MP, to raise my urgent concerns and to urge to UK Government to speak out. I will continue to follow what is happening closely, and I will stay in close contact with the Armenian National Committee of the United Kingdom (ANC-UK), who I have been working with since before I was elected as your MP.
